I first met Toni the day she came to do a demo for my sister. I was enthralled with the way she was able to get Jesse’s attention and keep him from growling at Stuff. I was so impressed, that I decided to enroll Kaine, my German Shepherd puppy, in the beginner group classes. Kaine and I started training with Toni when Kaine was about seven months old. Kaine had developed some behavior problems as a younger puppy due to ignorance on my part. When he was younger, I wanted him to speak so badly that I encouraged every bark that escaped his mouth. I didn’t realize that I was nurturing his fear of unknown things like strange dogs. Every time Kaine saw a new dog, he would bark a string of three barks while his hackles and tail rose in a bluff. As Kaine got older, this behavior started to escalate into something serious. This fear would have turned to aggression if it wasn’t for Toni’s knowledge of dog behavior. The first time Kaine wore the e-collar, he met Stuff from a distance and immediately started to bark like crazy. Toni was calm about his behavior and simply paged Kaine and he stopped barking. It was amazing to watch Toni work Kaine around Stuff. I had trouble in the past getting Kaine’s attention and he did not have a reliable come either. After only a few days with DOG-ON-IT! Kaine was responding to commands with such speed and accuracy. I could let him off leash at parks and on walks, which was a major improvement.
I admit, I was a little unsure about using an e-collar, but Toni immediately put my mind at ease with her extensive knowledge and compassion. I was also a little skeptical that Kaine would not listen without the collar, but I was proved wrong. The training has worked so well, that Kaine listens to commands with or without the e-collar. Toni is such an amazing dog trainer and in my opinion, the best in Arizona.
Thank you Toni for everything you have taught me. Not only have I have gained extensive knowledge about training and canine behavior, but my relationship with Kaine has become more intimate. Kaine is more attentive and he truly respects me as his pack leader. We are a team now and we both speak the same language. My goal was to have Kaine calmly exist around other dogs and in the end, I ended up with so much more than I expected.
Sincerely,
Ashley Brook and Kaine
